Here's a little bit of technical readout about a Lightsaber.

Lightsaber handles are 24 to 30 inches long, generally.
For energy it uses power cels and a crystal (multiple crystals may be used)
Handles are made from durasteel, like the name says, it's very durable.
Power cels transmit energy to the crystal(s).
The length of the blade depends upon two things: 1. How many crystals are used, and 2. The length the Jedi wants.
The color of the blade depends upon what kind of crystal is used.
Lightsabers can not cut through other Lightsabers, but everything else is fair game.
